2022-02-23 – A few beautiful birds

Finally I am back.
It’s been hard to find time lately. I have been unable to go hiking as often as I would like. And I have not published new pictures for the last 3 months. It’s certainly not because I am lacking new pics. In fact I have way too many, and that brings me to a situation where I often hesitate regarding the topic of the next post.
Anyway, as I reviewed my last posts, it occurred to me that birds haven’t been getting enough attention.
So here we go: we have 6 kinds of birds today.

I will not write extensively as that would just take way too much time.
But you can read all about those birds on Wikipedia. Here are the links:
California quail
House finch
White-tailed kite
Great-tailed grackle
Black-crowned heron (juvenile)
Northern Harrier

Glad you’re posting again! I have to say that it’s bitter-sweet seeing your pics, because I miss my daily 5 mile walks there. Hope all is well!

      Thanks Robert.
It’s nice to hear from you. I didn’t remember that you had subscribed. I am sorry about the bitter part for you. And yes, all is well, except of course the lack of time to do all the postings which are in the queue πŸ˜‰

Thank you Michael. It nice to see that you are still looking forward to my posts. Right, quails have nothing to do with parrots. Even though I doubted that, I still did a quick search for anything related to this possibility and found nothing. There are many types of quails and they are related to the partridge. One common trait of all these birds is that they are all ground dwelling and don’t fly much. As I am sure you know, parrots fly well and dwell in trees.
